What are the Difference between a Lash Lift and Lash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions and eyelash lifts are both great ways to transform your lashes and add some ease to your beauty routine. Both methods are HOT on the beauty scene however; there are some big differences between the two. The idea of lash perms and curling has been around for a while, but lash lifting and extensions are relatively new.

However, many patients who get extensions suffer from allergic reactions to the glue, loss of natural lashes, and overall artificial results.

Then, lash lifts were born. This process is far more natural, using silicone rods and a Keratin lifting lotion to curl lashes from the base. Instead of gluing fake hair to your eyelids, lash lifts work with and enhance your natural lashes. They make your lashes look fuller and longer with little to no maintenance. An added bonus is thees length of time it takes for the actual lifting treatment – only 45 to 60 minutes.

Wondering which one is right for you? Here's what you need to know:

Lash Extensions vs. Lash Lift.

Eyelash extensions can give you the length and volume you don’t have with your natural lashes, but they require maintenance, which could include a re-lash every 2 to 3 weeks depending on how well you take care of them.

A lash lift is a great way to make your straight natural lashes have a curl, which would give the illusion of length to your lashes. It’s a great way to enhance the beauty of your natural lashes. However, a lash lift can’t give you the length and volume lash extensions can. To keep that perfect look, I would recommend a lash lift every 6 to 8 weeks.

Lash extensions are glued individually to each lash to provide length and volume. They're great and provide awesome lash enhancement with no damage if done properly! Lash Lift uses a specially formulated series of solution lotions to permanently lift each lash so that they are curled up, opening the eye using the lashes you already have. If tinted, they can also appear darker and longer. This is also safe and doesn't damege the lash if done properly.

Pros and cons?

Those who are used to and love the dramatic effects of extensions may not love the results of the lift as it does not add anything to the lashline, but with lifts you are free to rub, wash, and apply mascara to them. Lash extensions can also become expensive to maintain, as a fill ($75+) every 2-3 weeks is recommended to keep the lashes looking their best. With lash lifts, the results last 6-8 weeks! At only $65-$120 per treatment, it is definitely the less expensive option! As always, I recommend seeing a licensed and certified professional to get either lash extensions or lifts, and check the ir work!
